Celebration of Eid e Ghadeer in the Heavens and Earth

Celebration of Eid e Ghadeer in the Heavens and Earth

Hazrat Imam Reza (a.s.) narrates from his father Hazrat Imam Musa Kazim (a.s.) who narrates from Hazrat Imam Sadiq (a.s.) that he (a.s.) said: “The day of Ghadeer is more celebrated and well known amongst the inhabitants of the skies as opposed to the inhabitants of the earth”.
Allah, the Almighty has created a palace in Paradise with bricks of gold and silver. In this palace, there are 100,000 red rooms and 100,000 green tents. The soil of this palace is musk and ambergris[1] (anbar). There are four streams in this palace. One stream is of sharaab, one stream of water, one stream of milk and one stream of honey. There are trees on the banks of these streams which bear various types of fruits. And there are birds on these trees whose bodies are made up of pearl and their wings are made up of Yaqoot and they chirp various sounds.
When the day of Ghadeer sets in, the inhabitants of the heavens enter this palace. And they do tasbeeh, taqdees and tahleel in this palace. Those birds also enter this palace and bathe in water and then again drown themselves in musk and ambergris (anbar). When the angels gather, they fly and sprinkle this fragrance on them.
The Angels on the day of ghadeer gift each other with “nisar e Janabe Fatima (s.a.)”. When the final minutes of the day of Ghadeer come near there is voice which says, advance in your levels and stages, that for the sake of Mohammed (s.a.w.a.) and Ali (a.s.) you are safeguarded from errors and slips till the same day of next year.” (Your infallibility is renewed till the Day of Ghadeer next year).

Let us see how we should celebrate day of Ghadeer on the earth….

Spending on the Day of Gadheer

From as-Sadiq [Imam Ja'far ibn Muhammad] (peace be upon him) that he said, “…giving one dirham to a brother in faith and who has cognizance (of the greatness and importance of the day of Ghadeer) is equal to giving 1,000 dirham (at any other time). Therefore on this day, give to your brothers and make all of the believing men and believing women happy and delighted.”

Those who believe in the Wilayat of Ahlulbait (as) do admit at heart and say that the Greatest Eid is “Eid-ul-Ghadeer”.But this belief has to be put in action, because our routine works and business on “Eid-ul-Ghadeer” speak volumes!.
We should have a special arrangements in our houses, dresses, meals etc.
If we believe “Eid-ul-Ghadeer” to be greater than “Fitr” and “Azha”, our feast should be biggest , Eidi to childrens and relatives should be greater, our every preparation should be much better and if we find any believer who needs help we should move forward and grab this opportunity

The 'Eid of Wilayat
“It was said to Abi 'Abdillah [Imam Ja'far ibn Muhammad as-Sadiq] (peace be upon him): “Do the true believers have an 'Eid other than the two 'Eid (of al-Adhha and al-Fitr) and the Jumu'ah?”The Imam replied, “Yes, they have one which is even greater than these ones and that is the day when Amirul Mo'minin (peace be upon him) was designated by the Messenger of Allah (blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) with the Wilayah (at Ghadeer Khumm) which rests on the necks of all the men and  women.”

The Great 'Eid of Allah

It has been narrated from as-Sadiq [Imam Ja'far ibn Muhammad] (peace be upon him) that he said, “This is the greatest 'Eid of Allah, and every Prophet appointed by Allah celebrated this day as an 'Eid, and knew the sanctity of this day.The name of this day in the heavens is the Day of the Allegiance and Well-Known Pact, and on the Earth this Day is known as the Day of the Promise which is taken and the Day of the Gathering of those who witnessed (the event).”
Wasa'il ash-Shi'a, Volume 5, Page 224, Hadith 1

But generally we see that the celebration in Ghadeer is not even equal to “Eid-ul-Fitr” and “Azha”. We would like to draw your attention towards a very important point in the end. All the other Eids are called “Eid-al-Lil-Muslimeen” i.e. Eid for the Muslims, but “Eid-ul-Ghadeer” is called to be the great Eid of the great Lord.

Well! Congratulations to those who celebrate in a special way (Juloos and Jashn of Ghadeer).

Offering of Wilayat of Ahle Bait (a.s.) to all creations

Just as on the day of Ghadeer ‘wilayat’ was offered to the men, in the world of creation it was offered to all the creations. Hazrat Imam Reza (a.s.) indicates in a tradition that offering of wilayat in the world of creation happened on the day of Ghadeer.

·         Wilayat was offered to the skies. The inhabitants of the seventh sky took precedence over others in acceptance of wilayat and Allah adorned it with the Arsh of Allah.
·          Wilayat was accepted by the inhabitants of the forth heaven after the seventh heaven and it was adorned with Baitul Mamoor.
·         Wilayat was accepted by the inhabitants of the skies of the world after the forth sky. And Allah adorned it with stars.
·         Wilayat was offered to all the land. The land of Mecca took precedence over others in acceptance and it was adorned with Kaaba.
·         The land of Medina accepted Wilayat after Mecca and it was adorned with Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.).
·         The land of Kufa accepted Wilayat after Medina and it was adorned with Ameerul Momineen (a.s.).
·         Wilayat was offered to the mountains. Three mountains accepted before others – aqeeq, firoza and yaqoot. It is for this reason that the possess fazilat over other stones.
·         Wilayat was accepted by the mines of gold and silver after the acceptance of aqeeq, firoza and yaqoot.
·         All those mountains which did not accept the Wilayat, there is not a thing which grows on them.
·         Wilayat was offered to the waters. All those which were accepted became tasty and those which did not accept became bitter and salty.
·         Wilayat was offered to all the plants, all those which accepted became sweet and tasty and those which did not accept became bitter.
·         Wilayat was offered to the birds. All those which accepted chirp in a beautiful and eloquent voice and those who did not accept stammer.

Hence we pray that all the followers of Wilayat may celebrate “Eid-ul-Akbar” (great Eid) in the great manner and get the Tawfiq of propagating Wilayat as a gift on Eid-Day.

Let us each renew our pledge to Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.) by saying
أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ حُجَّةَ اللٌّهِ عَلى خَلْقِهِ and pray to Almighty Allah to hasten the re-appearance of  his (s.w.t.)’s last Hujjat (a.t.f.s.) and include us among his loyal servants.

Sermon of Ghadeer

Generally, our understanding of the sermon of Ghadeer is to the extent that Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) announced the mastership of Ameerul Momineen (a.s.) in his sermon by saying, ‘of whomsoever I am master, Ali is his master’.
But, if we read the sermon of Ghadeer thoughtfully, we will be impressed by the words of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.). It seems like the complete sermon of Ghadeer is actually a laurel on Ameerul Momineen (a.s.).
Throughout his sermon, Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) repeatedly praises the Chief of Believers (a.s.) and mentions one merit of Ali (a.s.) after another. Sentence after sentence, paragraph after paragraph, page after page, the complete sermon is actually commendation of the conqueror of Khyber – Ali ibn Abi Talib (a.s.) in the most beautiful and eloquent words of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.)
The Arabic text of the sermon of Ghadeer is approximately 9 to 10 pages long of a regular A4 size sheet. If a person reads the Arabic text it should take him approximately 40 to 50 mins with normal reading.
This should give us a rough indication, that on the 18th of Zilhajj, in 10 A.H. when the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) gave this historic and significant sermon of Ghadeer as per the orders of Allah, the Almighty, he would have spoken for approximately 40 mins to 45 mins.
It is also noteworthy, that the Arabic language used by Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a) in the sermon is simple and easy to understand even for the non-Arabic listeners and readers and at the same time brimming with eloquence.

We have attempted here to briefly study and analyse the sermon of Ghadeer. The sermon of Ghadeer can be broadly divided into the following parts.
1. Praise and glorification of Allah
2. Divine order concerning an important affair
3. Official announcement of the Imamate of the twelve Imams
4. Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) raises Ameerul Momineen (a.s.) on his hands
5. Emphasis upon the nation for approaching or turning towards Imamate
6. Indication towards the objectives of the hypocrites
7. Lovers of Ahle Bait (a.s.) and their enemies
8. Mention of Hazrat Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s.)
9. Preparation for seeking allegiance
10. The permitted and prohibited and obligatory and prohibited
11. Allegiance – in the traditional form

We have brought forth a few extracts from each of the above parts below to understand the sermon of Ghadeer below and as motivation to read the complete sermon.

1. Praise and glorification of Allah

"All Praise is due to Allah Who is Exalted in His Unity, Near in His Uniqueness, Sublime in His Authority, Magnanimous in His Dominance. He knows everything; He subdues all creation through His might and evidence. He is Praised always and forever, Glorified and has no end. He begins and He repeats, and to Him every matter is referred."

"I praise Him greatly, and thank Him continuously for every happiness and suffering, and for every hardship and ease, and I believe in Him and His angels, and His books, and His messengers. I listen to His command and obey, and I hasten to everything that pleases Him, and submit and surrender to what He determines, [all out of my] desire/eagerness to be in His obedience, and out of fear of His chastisement, for He is Allah whose plot is not secured against, and whose injustice is not feared."

2. Divine order concerning an important affair

"There is no god but He, for He has informed me that if I do not convey what He has just revealed to me about the right of Ali, I will not have conveyed His Message at all, and He, the Praised and the Exalted One, has guaranteed for me to protect me from the (evil) people, and He is Allah, the One Who suffices, the Sublime. He has just revealed to me the following (verse): In The Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O Messenger! Convey what has (just) been revealed to you (with regard to 'Ali), and if you do not do so, you will not have conveyed His Message at all, and Allah shall Protect you from (evil) people; surely Allah will not guide the unbelieving people.
(Quran - 5:67)
O people! I have not committed any shortcoming in conveying what Allah Almighty revealed to me, and I am now going to explain to you the reason behind the revelation of this verse: Three times did Gabriel command me on behalf of the Salaam, my Lord, Who is the source of all peace, that I stand up here in this site and let every white and black know that, indeed Ali ibn Abi Talib, is my brother and my wasiy (trustee and executor of will and teaching), my successor over my Ummah (nation), the Imam after me, whose station to me is like that of Aaron to Moses – save that there will be no prophet after me – and he is your waliy (master) after Allah and His messenger.
In fact Allah, Blessed and Exalted, has sent down upon me about this an ayah from His Book which is, Indeed your master is Allah and His Messenger, and those who believe who uphold the prayer and give the alms while they are bowing and Ali ibn Abi Talib is the one who upheld the prayer and gave the alms while he was bowing seeking Allah, Exalted and Majestic, in all circumstances."

3. Official announcement of the Imamate of the twelve Imams

"So comprehend what I have just said about him. O people and understand it, and know that Allah has indeed appointed him as your master and imam whose obedience is obligatory upon the Muhajereen, the Ansar, tabeeen, and upon people of the deserts and the people of the towns, and upon the non-Arab and the Arab, the free and bonded, the young and the old, the white and the black, and upon every monotheist; [unquestionably] his judgement is upheld, his word is forgone and undisputable, his command is executed. Cursed is he who opposes him, blessed with mercy is he who follows him and confirms him; for Allah has indeed forgiven him as well as he who listens to him and obeys him."

"O people! this is the last stand I make in such a site, so listen and obey and follow the command of Allah your Lord. For Allah, Almighty and Majestic, is your master and your God, and then after Him, His Messenger and His Prophet – who is addressing you – is your master, then after me Ali is your master and your Imam by the command of Allah your Lord. Then the Imamat is in my progeny from his offsprings till the Day you stand before Allah and His Messenger."

"Indeed there is no “Ameer al Momineen” other than this brother of mine. Indeed the commandership of the believers is not permissible for anyone after me other than him."

4. Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) raises Ameerul Momineen (a.s.) on his hands

"O people! Who has more authority over you than you have over yourselves. They said: “Allah and His Messenger”. So Allah’s messenger said: of whomsoever I am master, Ali is his master. O Allah love the one who loves him, and be hostile to whoever is hostile to him, succour whoever succours him and forsake whoever forsakes him.
O people! this is Ali, my brother, my successor, inheritor of my knowledge. He is my successor over my nation, over everyone who believes in me, and (he is my successor) for the interpretation of the Book of Allah, Almighty and Majestic, (he is) the Caller to Him; the one who works that which pleases Him, the combater of His enemies, the devotee of His obedience, and the forbidder of His disobedience."

5. Emphasis upon the nation for approaching or turning towards Imamate

"O people! Allah, Almighty and Majestic, has indeed perfected your religion through his Imamat. So whoever does not take him as an Imam and those who succeed him from amongst my offspring from his loins until the Day of Judgment and Presentation before Allah, Almighty and Majestic, indeed they are the ones whose deeds have failed in this world and in the Hereafter and in they shall abide in Fire forever. their punishment will not be lightened for them, nor will they be granted any respite. "

"O people! Iblees caused Adam to be dismissed from Paradise through envy. So do not envy him (Ali (a.s.)) for your deeds will be nullified and your feet will slip away. Adam was lowered to the earth due to a single fault, even though he was the Chosen One of Allah. And what about you! And you being what you are! And from you are enemies of Allah!!!"

6. Indication towards the objectives of the hypocrites

"O people! Deem not your embracing of Islam a favour onto me. Rather do not even count it as a favour unto Allah, for He would nullify your deeds, and will wrath against you, and will subject you with tribulations of flame of fire and molten brass, indeed your Lord is watching. "

"O people! Indeed there will be after me are leaders who invite to the Fire, and on the Day of Resurrection they will not be succoured."

"O people! they, their supporters, their followers, and their devotees are in the lowest depth of the Fire and indeed miserable is the abode of the arrogant."

"O people! I confine Imamat and inheritance in my posterity until the Day of Resurrection. Indeed I have conveyed that which I have been commanded to convey [by the Almighty]; as a hujjat and evidence upon every one present or absent, upon everyone who witnessed or did not witness [this sermon], and [anyone who] is born or is yet to be born; so let those who are present here inform the absent, and let the parent inform the offspring until the Day of Resurrection."

7. The lovers and enemies of Ahle Bait (a.s.)

"O people! I am Allah’s Straight Path that He ordered you to follow and after me it is Ali, and then [after him are] my offspring from his loins – the Leaders of Guidance – they guide to the Truth and do justice by it."

"Indeed their enemies are the fools, the perverse, and the brothers of the devils."

"Indeed their supporters and devotees are those who enter Paradise in peace and security, the angels meet them with greetings saying, Peace be upon ye! Well ye have fared; so enter in, to dwell forever."

8. Mention of Hazrat Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s.)

"Indeed the seal of the Imams from amongst us is al-Qaim al-Mahdi. Indeed he is the one who prevails over the religion. Indeed he is the avenger against the oppressors. Indeed he is the conqueror of the fortresses and their destroyer. Indeed he is the winner over all tribes of the polytheists and their guide [to the truth]."

"Indeed he is the remaining hujjat and there shall be no hujjat after him, and there is no right other than that that is with him, and there is no light except that that is with him."

9. Preparation for seeking allegiance

"O people! Indeed I have clarified for you and made you understand, and this Ali will teach you and make you understand after me. Indeed I will, at the conclusion of my sermon, ask you to shake hands with me to swear your allegiance to him, assenting and recognising him [and his authority], and then to shake hands with him, after [you have shaken hands with] me."

10. The permitted and prohibited and obligatory and prohibited

"O people! I have guided you to every halaal and prohibited you from every haraam. Indeed I will never go back nor will I change or modify. So make sure you remember that, keep it, adhere and enjoin to it, and never change it nor modify it. "

11. Allegiance – In the traditional form

"O people! You are more than you could shake hands with me all at the same time, and Allah, Almighty and Majestic, has commanded me to seek from you verbal confirmation and recognition for what I have made binding obligation [of allegiance] for Ali Amir al- Mo’mineen, [as my successor], and for those who succeed him of the Imams who are from me and from him, as I have informed you that my offspring are from his loins."

"So all together say in one voice: “We hear, obey, approve of, and are bound by what you have conveyed from our Lord and your Lord with regards to our Imam Ali, Ameer al-Momineen, and those Imams who are born from his loins. We swear the oath of allegiance to you in this regard with our hearts, with our souls, with our tongues, and with our hands. Upon that we will live, upon it we will die, and upon it we will resurrect. We will not change, we will not alter, we will not doubt, we will not deny, we will not hesitate, we will not renege against the covenant, nor will we break the pledge.
You have advised us with Allah’s admonition about Ali Ameer al-Momineen and the Imams whom you mentioned to be your offspring from his descendants after him; Hasan, Husain and those Allah appointed after these two.

The covenant and the pledge for them are taken from us; from our hearts, our souls, our tongues, our consciences, and our hands. He who realises it [by being present] he does that with his handshake, otherwise he [would] indeed confirm and admit it by his tongue, and we do not seek to alter that, and may Allah not see from us any change or conversion. We fulfil that on your behalf to the close and the far from amongst our offspring and our families, and we take Allah as our witness on that, and surely Allah suffices for a witness and you are a witness on us for that.
These are few portions and extracts from the historic and eloquent sermon of Ghadeer delivered by best and last Prophet (s.a.w.a.). As mentioned earlier, these are just extracts on each of the sub-topics and interested readers can read more from the full text of the sermon.
It is noteworthy that even on the day of Ghadeer, Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) made a special mention about the Imam of our time, Hazrat Hujjat Imam al-Mahdi (a.t.f.s.). We have quoted just two paragraphs from his sermon, in the full text of the sermon Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) has mentioned Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s.) for almost one full page or spoke about him specifically for 5 while mins in the sermon.

The Event of Ghadeer and the Holy Quran

The Event of Ghadeer and the Holy Quran

Allah, the Almighty says in the Holy Quran,

“Surely this Quran guides to that which is most upright”
  Surah Bani Israel (17) – 9

It is evident from the above verse of the Holy Quran that one who follows the Holy Quran will indeed and most certainly be guided towards the most upright and correct path. The Holy Quran is a book of guidance for mankind and Muslims till the Day of Judgement. It is for Muslims all over the world to ponder over it’s verses with sincerity so that they be guided to the upright path. But what does the “upright path” actually means?
Without the explanation from the Holy Infallibles it would be impossible to understand, what the upright path actually means in the above verse?

Fuzail bin Yasaar narrates from Hazrat Imam Baqir (a.s.),

Imam Baqir (a.s.) says, “Surely this Quran guides to that which is most upright”. He (a.s.) said, guides towards Wilayat.
Al-Burhaan fi Tafsir al Quran, Vol. 3, Page 510

Thus the upright path and correct path is the Wilayat of Ahle Bait (a.s.) and the Holy Quran guides towards this path. The biggest and most prominent announcement of Wilayat of Ahle Bait (a.s.) was on the Day of Ghadeer when the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) announced the mastership of Ameerul Momineen, Ali ibn Abi Talib (a.s.) in front of thousands of companions while returning from the farewell pilgrimage. Let us look into the verses of Holy Quran concerning the incident of Ghadeer e Khum in the light of traditions of the holy Ahle Bait (a.s.) so that we are guided towards the real upright path.
In the light of traditions of the holy and pure Ahle Bait (a.s.) we quote below verses from the Holy Quran which were either revealed on the day of Ghadeer e Khum or just before it. Although there are other more famous verses related to incident of Gadheer but for the sake of brevity and to seek blessing from the Holy Panjetan (a.s) we limit our discussion to the following 5 verses of the Holy Quran.

1st Verse – Surah Zukruf (43) : Verses 79-80

It is reported in Tafsir e Qummi, after performing Hajjatul Wida, Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) said to all the companions present with him.

“O people! I leave behind me two weighty things. The companions asked, O Messenger of Allah! What are the two weighty things? Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) said, the book of Allah and my family, my Ahle Bait (a.s.). Then surely certainly this has been conveyed to me by the Knower of Subtitles, and The Aware…”

When the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a) said this, then few companions gathered together and said, Mohammed (s.a.w.a.), desires that he places Imamat in his family. Then four from amongst them left from there and went to Mecca and entered the Khane Kaaba and they made a promise, and they wrote amongst them a writing, if Mohammed (s.a.w.a.) dies or is killed we will certainly never let this affair (succession and Imamat) return to his family ever. Then Allah, the Almighty revealed this verse,

Or have they settled an affair? Then surely We are the settlers. Or do they think that We do not hear what they conceal and their secret discourses? Aye! and Our messengers with them write down.
Surah Zukhruf (43) : 79 to 80

Then Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) left from Mecca for Medina till they reached a place which was called Ghadeer e Khum. Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) taught the people their rituals and mentioned to them his wasiyat. Then the verse 67 of Surah Maidah and verse 3 of the same Surah were revealed on the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.).

2nd Verse - Surah Tauba (9) : Verse 74

“They swear by Allah that they did not say [anything against the Prophet] while they had said the word of disbelief and disbelieved after their [pretense of] Islam and planned that which they were not to attain.”
Surah Tauba (9) : Verse 74

Hazrat Imam Jafar Sadiq (a.s.) says, when the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) stood on the day of Ghadeer with Ameerul Momineen (a.s.), there were with him seven people from the Munafeqeen, they were, Fulaan and Fulaan, Abdul Rehman bin Auf, Saad ibn Abi Waqqas, Abu Ubaida, Abu Huzaifa, and Mogaira. The third said, did you look at his eyes, they were as if eyes of a Majnoon – meaning the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) at the time when he stood up and said, my Lord told me, then when he stood up he said, who is having more authority on you then yourselves. They said, Allah and His messenger. He (s.a.w.a.) said – O Allah, bear witness, that of whomsoever I am master, Ali is his master. Then they greeted him with (the title) Ameerul Momineen. Then Gibrael (as) descended and made him Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) aware of their conversation. Then he (s.a.w.a.) called them and asked them, then they denied and swore. Then Allah, the Almighty descended the above verse.

Tafsir al-Qummi, Vol. 1, Page 301

3rd  Verse – Surah Saba (34) : Verse 46

Say, "I only advise you of one [thing] - that you stand for Allah , [seeking truth] in pairs and individually, and then give thought." There is not in your companion any madness. He is only a warner to you before a severe punishment.
Surah Saba (34): Verse 46

It is reported in Tafseer al Burhaan from Yaqoob bin Yazid who says that he asked Imam Sadiq (a.s.) concerning the above verse. Imam Sadiq (a.s.) said, with Wilayat. I asked him, and how is it? Imam (a.s.) said, when he (s.a.w.a.) stood with Ameerul Momineen (a.s.) in front of the people and said “of whomsoever I am master, Ali is his master”, a man slandered him and said, “surely Mohammed (s.a.w.a.) invites us every day to a new thing. It is now apparent that he intends to tie his Ahle Bait (a.s.) around our neck”. Then Allah the Almighty revealed the above verse upon His Messenger (s.a.w.a.).

The narrator then says, he asked him regarding the second part of the verse, that you stand for Allah , [seeking truth] in pairs and individually. Imam Sadiq (a.s.) replied, pairs refers to obedience of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) and obedience of Ameerul Momineen (a.s.) and individually refers to obedience of the Imam from their progeny after both of them and by Allah O Yaqoob, it does not mean anything other than this.

4th  Verse – Surah Qalam (68) : Verses 1 – 6

Noon. I swear by the pen and what the angels write. By the grace of your Lord you are not mad. And most surely you shall have a reward never to be cut off. And most surely you conform (yourself) to sublime morality. So you shall see, and they (too) shall see. Which of you is afflicted with madness.
Surah Qalam (68) – Verses 1 to 6

It is narrated in Tafseer e Furat al Kufi from Hazrat Imam Sadiq (a.s.), when the Wilayat of Ali (a.s.) was revealed, Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) stood in front of the people and said, “Of whomsoever I am Master, Ali (a.s.) is his master”. Then a man said, most certainly he is captivated (fascinated) by this youth (referring to Ali (a.s.). Then Allah revealed this verse, “Noon. I swear by the pen and what the angels write. By the grace of your Lord you are not mad. And most surely you shall have a reward never to be cut off. And most surely you conform (yourself) to sublime morality. So you shall see, and they (too) shall see. Which of you is afflicted with madness.”
Tafseer e Furat e Kufi, Page 495

5th  Verse – Surah Qiyamat (75) : Verses 31 to 34

And the disbeliever had not believed, nor had he prayed. But [instead], he denied and turned away. And then he went to his people, swaggering [in pride]. Woe to you, and woe!
Surah Qiyamat (68) : Verses 31 to 34

In Tafseer e Furat, it is narrated from Janabe Ammar e Yasir (r.a.) who quotes Janabe Abu Zar e Gaffari (r.a.), that Janabe Abu Zar said the below in a gathering of Ibn Abbas.
Janabe Abu Zar (r.a.) said, “… O people, do you not know that Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) gathered people on the Day of Ghadeer Khum and he said, “of whomsoever I am master, Ali (a.s.) is his master. O Allah! You love the one who loves him, bear enmity with the who bears enmity with him, help the one who helps him, forsake the one who forsakes him. Then a man stood up and said, congratulation to you O ibn Abi Talib (a.s.) you have become master of all believing man and believing woman today. Then when Mowaiya ibn Abi Sufiyan heard this, he reclined towards Mogaira ibn Shobah and said, I do not acknowledge Ali (a.s.) of his Wilayat and I do not agree to Mohammed (s.a.w.a.) in what he is saying. Then Allah, the Almighty revealed upon his Prophet (s.a.w.a.) And the disbeliever had not believed, nor had he prayed. But [instead], he denied and turned away. And then he went to his people, swaggering [in pride]. Woe to you, and woe!

Tradition of Ghadeer in the Books of Ahle Sunnah

Tradition of Ghadeer in the Books of Ahle Sunnah

Despite numerous Ahle Sunnah sources narrating the tradition of Ghadeer, it seems really difficult for the muslims to accept this command of the messenger of Allah (sawa). Denying this clear and direct order of the messenger of Allah is as combating him (sawa). As the order of Ghadeer-e-Khum is not a gentle marginal discussion, rather it is a matter of believe. Every Muslim compulsorily believes that the orders of the messenger of Allah are to be accepted whether we like it or dislike, and the Holy Quran confirms to this in the Surah Hashr 59:7

" and whatever the Messenger gives you, accept it, and from whatever he forbids you, keep back, and be careful of (your duty to) Allah; surely Allah is severe in retributing (evil)"

Let us quickly delve into the authentic  Ahle Sunnah sources and bring forth clear evidence's of the orders of the messenger of Allah (sawa) concerning the event of Ghadeer.

1. Musnad-e-Bazzar of Hafiz Imam Abu Bakar Al Bazzaar:

From Ayesha binte Saad, from her father that the messenger of Allah (sawa) caught hold the hand of Ali (a.s) and said: Do I not enjoy more authority upon the believers then themselves? For whomsoever I am his master then surely Ali is his master.

2. Al-Mataalib-ul-Aaliya of Hafiz ibne Hajar Al-asqalaani:

...From Ali (a.s): Surely the Prophet (sawa) came to the tree at khum, then he caught hold of the hand of Ali (a.s) and said, do you not bear witness that Allah (TWT) is your Lord? They said yes. He (sawa) said do you not bear witness that Allah and His messenger have more authority on you then yourselves and that Allah and His messenger are your Masters? They all said yes. He (sawa) said then for whomsoever Allah and His messenger are his master then surely this (Ali) is his master…

3. Kitaab Ash-Shariyah by Al-Imam Al-Muhaddis Abu Bakr Al-Aajerii:

...then he caught hold of the hand of Ali ibne Abi taalib (a.s) and said “Allah is my Master, and I am the master of all the believers and of whomsoever I am his master then Ali is his master…”

4. Musnad of Ahmad bin Hanbal:

...That the Prophet (sawa) on the day of Gadheer-e-Khum said: “of whomsoever I am his master then Ali is his master…”

5. Sahih-e-Sunan Ibne Maajaa along with the certification from the salafi Shaikh Al-albaani:

...then he caught hold of the hand of Ali (a.s) and said am I not having more authority on the believers then themselves? They all said yes. He (sawa) said am I not having more authority upon every believer then they have on themselves? They all said yes, the he (sawa) said “then this (Ali) is the authority for whomever I am the master, Oh Allah help who helps him, Oh Allah be enemy to the one who has his enmity…”

It is evident from the above mentioned proves that the incident of Ghadeer-e-Khum is not a hidden fact in the muslim books, rather the scholars of traditions consider it as Sahih, Asnaad-us-Sahih and mutawatir khabar.  it has been well documented, now the question to our readers is that why has the nation not given due right to this incident and why such an important incident is kept hidden or not known or heard at all by the masses? Can a just muslim ponder on the reason for this? The only reply we can think of is hostility towards Ameer-ul-momeneen Ali (a.s). On the other hand we observe that this same muslim nation strives hard to magnify every fake and forged merit of those who snatched the right of khilafat from Ali (a.s), for example the tradition of "My companions are like star's…". It is this same innocent nation that becomes extremely clever to extrapolate this tradition and prove the khilafat of the opposition, while their scholars of traditions treat this news to be fake and forged:

The Salafi Shaikh Albaani considers this tradition "My companions are like stars…" as fabricated, and goofed. Also he considers the chain of narration as unreliable, and the narrator to be a fabricator and this is a classical fabrication from him.
If this prejudice is kept aside and the event of Ghadeer is analysed based on the traditions that are found in the books, the conclusion that can be drawn is extremely clear and evident.
Thus in the light of the event it becomes obligatory on everyone who submits to the messenger ship of the Holy prophet (sawa), to also submit to the mastership of his successor, his cousin, the first amongst them to believe and the foremost amongst them to submit, the spouse of his (sawa) daughter, and his (sawa) flag bearer, Amirul-Momeneen Ali ibne Abi Talib (a.s).

Be sincere in your intentions, and struggle hard to recognize the truth, and halt for a moment ponder and think so that you reach the truth and follow it.
