I have a reason to be happy

The month of Rabiul Awwal brings with it many occasions of happiness. We are blessed with the day of birth of Holy Prophet (sawa) and Imam Jafer Sadiq (as). This month also has a day of birth of Janabe Umme Kulsoom (sa), the daughter of Hazrat Ameerul Momeneen (as). This month is a witness to death of many enemies of Ahle Bait (as) including Yazeed ibne Moawiya (la). One such occasion which brings  happiness in this month is the day known as Eid-e-Zehra (s.a). It is the day of 9^th Rabiul Awwal.

This day brings with it divine mercy, forgiveness, abundance, joy and blessings for the Shias of Ahlebait (a.s).

 To avoid non-masoom words in praise of this day we are quoting a tradition from Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a) that he narrated to Ameerul Momeneen (a.s) who said to Jananbe Huzaifah: “O Huzaifah! Shall I mention to you the day when I entered into the presence of my master Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a) and I and his grandsons ate with him. Huzaifah replied:Please do so, O the brother of the messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a).

Ameerul Momeneen (a.s) then narrated this tradition of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a) of which we shall hereunder present an extract.

وَ يَوْمُ‏ عِيدِ اللهِ الْأَكْبَرِ.. وَ يَوْمٌ يُسْتَجَابُ فِيهِ‏ الدُّعَاءُ.. وَ يَوْمُ نَدَامَةِ الظَّالِمِ، وَ يَوْمُ انْكِسَارِ الشَّوْكَةِ.. وَ يَوْمُ فَرَحِ الشِّيعَةِ.. وَ يَوْمُ التَّوْبَةِ،.. وَ يَوْمُ الرِّضَا.. وَ يَوْمُ عِيدِ أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ... وَ يَوْمُ تَقْدِيمِ الصَّدَقَةِ.. وَ يَوْمُ قَتْلِ الْمُنَافِقِ.. وَ يَوْمَ يَعَضُّ الظَّالِمُ عَلى‏ يَدَيْهِ‏ .. وَ يَوْمُ الْقَهْرِ عَلَى الْعَدُوِّ .. وَ يَوْمُ هَدْمِ الضَّلَالَةِ.. وَ يَوْمُ ذَهَابِ‏ سُلْطَانِ الْمُنَافِقِ.. وَ يَوْمٌ يَسْتَرِيحُ فِيهِ الْمُؤْمِنُ‏ .. وَ يَوْمُ نَصْرِ الْمَظْلُومِ، وَ يَوْمُ الزِّيَارَةِ.. وَ يَوْمُ التَّزْكِيَةِ۔۔۔

And it is the day of the greatest Eid of Allah..the day of the acceptance of the prayers..the day of the remorse of the oppressor..and the day when his pride was destroyed..and the day when shias become glad..and the day of Eid among Ahlebait (a.s)..and the day of offering charity..and the day when the hypocrite was killed..and the day when the oppressor bit his hands in rage..and the day of subjugation of the enemy..and the day when deviation was desecrated..and the day when the hypocrite king died..and the day of the rest for the believers..and the day when the oppressed was helped..and the day of Ziyarat..and the day of purification….

Hence, based on the above tradition ninth day of the month of Rabi-ul Awwal is a day of Eid for the Shias of Ahlebait (a.s). It is thus, as a Shia, our duty to observe this day as the day of Eid.

It is the day when the staunchest enemy of Ahlebait (a.s) was dispatched to hell at the hands of Abu Lulu. The later had a technical bent of mind and invented a grind that rip apart the belly of the second oppressor as referred to, in Ziarat Ashura. This sliting and tearing of the belly reminds us of the day when the accursed had torn the document that returned the estate of Fidak to Janabe Zehra (sa).

It is also the day, when Umar ibn Sa’ad (la) was killed at the hands of Janab Mukhtar al- Saqafi (ar) which brought a smile at the aggrieved face of our fourth Imam Ali ibn Husain (a.s).

This day is also the first day of Imamat of the master of our time Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s), may our lives be sacrificed for him.

This occasion is the cause of delight amongst the Ahle Bait (as) hence it calls for celebration and joy among the Shias of Ahlebait (a.s). It is our duty to be delighted at the glad occasions among the Ahlebait (a.s) as we were grievious at their calamities in the previous month.

It is narrated in a tradition thus:

إِنَّ شِيْعَتَنَا لَمَّا خُلِقُوْا مِنْ فَاضِلٍ طِيْنَتِنَا، وَ عَجِنُوْا بِمَاءِ وِلايَتِنَا، رَضَوْنَا أَئِمَّةَ، وَ رَضِيْنَا بِهِمْ شِيْعَةَ، يُصِيْبُهُمْ مُصَابِنَا، وَ تَنْكَبَهمْ أَوْصَابَنَا وَ يَحْزُنُهُمْ حُزْنَنَا، وَ نَحْنُ أَيْضًا نَتَأَلَّمُ لِتَأَلُّمِهِمْ، وَ نَطْلَعُ عَلٰى أَحْوَالِهِمْ،

Surely our Shias are created from our virtous teenat and have been mixed with the water of our mastership, they are satisfied with us as Imams and we are satisfied at their being our followers, are grieved at our calamities and they feel miserable at our afflictions and are remorseful at our sufferings and similarly we are aggrieved at their misfortunes and are informed of their conditions.

It is the result of this creation that we are happy on listening to their virtues and gloomy at the mention of their sufferings. Needless to say, those whose creations are from the mastership of the enemies of Ahle Bait (as) have to search for a reason to be happy on this day.

O Allah we are grateful to you for having created us from the virtous teenat of Aimmah (as), we are grateful to you for bestowing us with the love of Ahle Bait (as) and lastly, we are grateful to you for giving us the heart which feels happiness on the day of Eid Zehra (sa).
